Former Board Chairman, the Rev. S. George “Doc” Dirghalli, Has Died
Former Grand High Alpha Rev. S. George “Doc” Dirghalli (Florida 1950) died today, Oct. 29, 2016. After graduating from the University of Florida, he joined the International Headquarters as a traveling secretary (today called an educational leadership consultant). He later was promoted to an associate director and worked alongside George Spasyk, who would later become Lambda Chi’s fourth executive director. Dirghalli then served on the Grand High Zeta and was elected as the Board Chairman in 1978. In later years, he served the fraternity as our spiritual leader and had a profound impact on thousands of Lambda Chis. Dirghalli is survived by his wife, Kira, and his two children, Elisabeth and Stefan (Syracuse 1994), and his grandchildren.
The calling and service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 220 E Fayette St, Syracuse, NY 13202, on Saturday, November 19th. The calling will be at the church beginning at 4 pm, with the service to follow at 5:15 pm. There will be a reception following the service also to be held at the church.
